As of March 16, 2020 Matagorda County has declared a County-Wide Disaster in preparation and response to COVID-19 pandemic.

Matagorda County is working diligently to continue providing services to our citizens, be assured that our offices are not closing, but will be working with limited interactions in an effort to provide social distancing.  

Beginning March 17, 2020,  Matagorda County Courthouse will be making the following adjustments for the safety of our citizens and our employees.
Matagorda County Courthouse will have a controlled point of entrance, where citizens will be screened, point of entry will be located on the south side of the building (6th Street).  At this control point, you will be asked a few short questions and your temperature will be taken.  If you have a temperature greater than 100.4, you will be turned away and will be unable to enter the premises.  We are asking that if you have any questions or concerns, please call the County Department that you are attempting to reach, prior to visiting the County Courthouse.

AS OF APRIL 24, 2020, MATAGORDA COUNTY JUDGE, NATE MCDONALD HAS NOW OPENED ALL COUNTY BEACHES, WITH THE RESTRICTIONS OF MAINTAINING SOCIAL DISTANCING, KEEPING A 6 FEET DISTANT FROM OTHERS.

AS OF MAY 4, 2020 MATAGORDA COUNTY HAS NOW OPENED ALL COUNTY PARKS WITH ALL SOCIAL DISTANCING AND HYGIENE PRACTICES REMAINING THE SAME.

COMMUNITY CENTERS, AND COUNTY FAIRGROUND WILL REMAIN CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
