The Matagorda County Juvenile Probation Department will not be responsible for any injuries to those juveniles participating in the program. The staff of Matagorda County Juvenile Probation Department will directly supervise those students enrolled in Motivation Day and ALERT. Staff will not in any way place their hands on those students participating in the Motivation Day and ALERT program unless that child poses a danger to himself or others. Juveniles will be screened as much as possible, prior to Motivation Day to determine if the program will be effective. Those juveniles that are deemed inappropriate either for physical, mental, or behavioral reasons will be referred to other more appropriate community resources. There will be no charge for the initial screening. Statistics will be kept to gage the effectiveness of Motivation Day and ALERT. This will be a determining factor as to the long range future of this program. The success of the program will determine to a large degree any needed modifications. The ultimate goal of this program is to provide an experience to the child that will induce him or her to take immediate corrective action. Obviously some children simply will not respond appropriately, despite this department's endeavors. However, this form of intervention might discourage a significant number of juveniles from delinquent acts. |
