Motivation Day / ALERT Boot Camp Program

Schools, Courts, and Probation Departments use the Motivation Day Program as a tool and an alternative form of discipline.

Children, that in the opinion of their guardian are getting into trouble outside the parameters of the law and are at risk of falling into the Juvenile Justice System, will have the option of referring their child to the MOTIVATION DAY Program.  The Matagorda County Juvenile Probation Department will accept these children for scheduled MOTIVATION DAYS, provided that the parent will agree to sign all release of liability forms, fill out a questionnaire concerning the health of the child, and pay a fee of $50 for services.

Fees can be reduced or waived if the parent can demonstrate that the family is financially ill equipped to pay the requested cost.  All fees collected for this program will be deposited along with other probation fees to be utilized for support of this department.

The child will be delivered to this department by the parent at 6:45 a.m. and be available to pick the child up at 4 p.m.  Parents must supply their child with a sack lunch.  At the end of the day, a Juvenile Probation Officer will be available to meet with the parent and child to discuss the child's problems at home and the corrective actions this child will need to make.

If the child fails to abide by parental rules after the initial intervention period, the parent has the option to enroll the child in to the next available MOTIVATION DAY. This second enrollment, if needed, will be at a reduced expense ($25) to the parent.

Should the child fail after two motivation days, no further action will be taken by this department.  Special consideration will be given for those juveniles that if felt by the Probation Officer or Senior Drill Instructor that a third MOTIVATION DAY would be in the best interest of the child.

This will be an excused activity from school and the child will be given a written excuse signed by the Senior Drill Instructor or a representative of this department.
